809

Don’t just exist live get out there, explore & challenge yourself.

If like me you’ve been in quarantine since March due to the worldwide quarantine, you’re probably experiencing some cabin fever after staying indoors for almost a year.  Having sat through endless Zoom meetings, you’ve probably caught up on enough sleep and binged more Netflix shows than you have ever in your entire life.

Millions of people worldwide are searching and learning new ways to stay entertained at home. Learning a new skill has proven to be a mental health and stress reduction. So I’ve compiled some suggestions to help make your time in quarantine interesting and stimulating to help you combat boredom and fight the uncertainty because now is the right time to experiment, explore a new hobby or simply learn something new!

Explore Cybersecurity On TryHackMe

With the continuing advancement of technology businesses are able to achieve efficiencies and cost savings by moving to the cloud and allowing employees to work remotely like never before, but this also means that bad actors, criminals, hackers are also able to leverage advances in technology to attack businesses and individuals.

These two factors mean that demand for Cybersecurity experts has never been higher and continues to grow. So why not consider learning a new skill in one of the many technical and non-technical Cybersecurity domains. I would definitely suggest you try out tryhackme where you can learn cybersecurity in a fun and addictive way.

Podcasting

Now is the perfect time to start a podcast. Why not document your quarantine journey and the great thing is you only need is to have a computer a microphone and internet access and sign up to Anchor, podcasting is quite easy and cheap to learn.

Learn To Code

The world is embracing technology. Coding skills are at the center of growth and development of the world. There are so many easy coding skills that can be self-taught on platforms like Codecademy, FreeCodeCamp etc… Given time and determination you can go from being a beginner to a proficient coder without ever leaving your house! By the time quarantine is over you might even be able to pursue a career involving scripting or coding. Coding skills are relatively easy skills to get started in, and you can even get your kids involved.

Learning a New Language

Learning a new language is crucial in today’s dynamic world. This is ample time to learn and master a new set of skills in a different language since one has enough time and there are no barriers now to achieving fluency in a new language. You can use apps such as Duolingo and Babbel, which have crafted courses for beginners who want to fine-tune their fluency. The best thing is these are free apps.

Learn Your Passion on SkillShare

If you are looking to learn a new skill, or explore an existing passion, I would definitely recommend that you sign up to SkillShare which is a digital platform designed to connect learners with online courses taught by real-world experts, creators, entrepreneurs, and professionals. You can learn anything from coding to drawing, graphic design to playing a guitar, I actually had fun learning how to master making classic Indian dishes. I would definitely recommend it.

In conclusion, now is the time to do anything that you once never had time to do before, so go for it, learn to do something new that will make you happy and even benefit you in the long run. Take advantage of this time and make the most of it, especially if you have the privilege of having some extra free time at home. Do whatever you do to keep your creative juices flowing, and remember to set some goals because with everything that’s happening in the world and the future might look uncertain, you must not stop living and building yourself up because Now Is Not Forever and better days are head and till then the best way to stay inspired is to have something to work towards to.
